Hypothyroidism Sweating

Hypothyroidism-I get hot+sweat but at the same time I my skin is freezing and I’m chilled. I’m miserable. Help?

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism this year and began treatment with Synthroid. I’ve had really good luck with it and only had to adjust the dosage once. I’m on 75 micrograms now and my thyroid function is now normal. But for some reason my body’s thermometer is still out of whack. It’s been like this since I got mono in 2004. My doc thinks the illness triggered the thyroid problem. So could it be the thyroid problem or could it be that I have developed the secondary mono virus, Epstien-Barr(which my mother also has)? Although, my blood work as of yet has not indicated that I am having any Epstien-Barr flares. I spoke with my doc about this and she sent me to an endocrinologist who told me that it wasn’t something she treated and that she couldn’t help me. She walked out of the room before I could even really ask her any questions about where to go from here. Any one else had this problem?

In fact this medication IS providing your necessary thyroid gland replacement. Your own one is not doing the job at all now.
In my opinion you may be allergic to that brand of thyroid replacement medication. Or you may simply not need such a larger dose. There is no such thing as a ‘one dose fits all’ with medication.
It should be no worry at all for the doctor to A) accept that you want to try a litlle less daily to see if those side effects go away and the blood test is still Ok OR replace it with another brand.
The behaviour by the endocrinologist is totally unprofessional and you are obviously better off without her.
Take control of your own health and don’t leave it all up to the doctor. make a daily 1 hourly diary of what happens for a week and then go back with the above questions.
All the best with it.
