Dry Skin Sweating

Dry Skin Sweating
Severe dry, itchy skin condition on lower legs: what to do?

For several years I’ve had recurring dry and itchy skin on my lower legs. When I scratch my skin small sores resembling bites appear (with bleeding). I don’t think they’re bites as I live in a small apartment that has never had any animals and I certainly havn’t seen any evidence of fleas or other insects. I think it’s a direct result of my dry skin.

It only occurs in the summer months. When I start to sweat, the dry skin becomes very itchy. In the winter months it clears up. I take high blood pressure medicine such as Diovan and Toprol, and I’ve read that they could cause dry skin. Otherwise, I’m in good health.

You may have a touch of eczema or some similar type of dry skin condition which may or may not be related to your medication. I suggest you moisturise your legs twice a day, (am and pm). I would also be drinking more water to hydrate your skin more. Bathing with a cap ful of almond oil or similar may be good. Also check the soap that you are using as it may be too harsh for your skin. Try a more natural substitute maybe.
